Dorothy has painted a scene at the Mantamaru airstrip. On the right is the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), an emergency air ambulance service that flies out to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands to pick up critically ill patients and fly them to hospital. On the left is a plane that has landed with fly in fly out employees of the mining company who were given permission in 2019 to open a mine south of Mantamaru. In the background is a shelter with waiting passengers and houses. The airstrip is an important link to the outside world, mail is delivered once a week while for staff, Yarnangu and specialists it is the quickest way in and out.
