  • This painting depicts the tali (sandhills) which are prominent features in the Gibson Desert landscape and feature in many important Tjukurrpa. Tjukurrpa - Physical feature or part of the countryside associated with a dreamtime story; Character from a dreamtime story. (From Ngaanyatjarra and Ngaatjatjarra to English Dictionary, Alice Springs, IAD Press). Anna grew up in and around Warburton, which is known for its sandhill country. So, this painting is as a much an expression of her recollections of and memories of that country when she was growing up and travelling country as a young girl with her family and later on as a young married woman.
