Paintings depict the Tjukurpa, the Law and stories of Ancestors. Anangu (Central and Western Desert Aboriginal people) have responsibilities for the protection and teaching of different Tjukurpa and there are strict protocols for the imparting of knowledge. The dotting technique has evolved with the need to adapt sacred expressions of Tjukurpa for public viewing and as a depiction of the desert landscape.The artist has painted their impression of ngayuku ngura (my country). Kapi tjukurla are the water holes represented by circles. By their very nature waterholes also mark sites related to the Creation Ancestors’ journeys across the country; the ‘dreaming tracks’ followed by countless generations of Anangu since. They created landforms and customs to be passed on and maintained over subsequent generations. The sites are linked through inma or ceremony – the singing, dancing and body painting which reveals the laws of nature and provides a blue print for life and a guiding map of country.In paintings such as this one Anangu share, celebrate and pass on the Tjukurpa and the links it forms with their country and kin.

Maruku Arts Shipping policy
We will package and ship the items after the market has ended. Please clearly nominate a street address (no PO Box for larger items) for delivery. All paintings will be carefully rolled and sent in a tube for safety. Maruku Arts has a mail service twice a week. Every effort is made to dispatch artworks as quickly as possible, but specific delivery times cannot be guaranteed. Please keep in mind that you are purchasing something from a remote community. Delivery time for domestic postage is usually fourteen days after the item has been sent and international up to six weeks. Shipping Within Australia Domestic orders are sent by Australia Post, or Northline depending on size of artworks, all artworks are fully insured. Delivery time is 14 – 30 business days due to the remoteness of the Art Centre. Shipping International: International orders are shipped via TNT, fully insured and including a tracking number. Delivery time is up to eight weeks. National shipping is already included. Be aware for international shipping there will be extra costs. Please contact us under [email protected] to calculate the additional costs. Artworks will be send after the extra costs are paid.

Refunds Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. Late or missing refunds If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at [email protected] Sale items Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Returns Our policy lasts 10 days. If 10 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
