Steven Peumorra

Steven was born in Derby, but grew up in on his father’s Country of Kalumburu. “As I was growing up there an old man told me stories about the Wandjina, and how he created the lands, waters, animals and people.”

He now lives in Mowanjum with his partner Renita Bidd (who is also an artist) and their six children.

“I like painting the Wandjina, Gyorn Gyorn, Ungud Snakes and sometimes landscapes.  When I was in school painting was like a hobby to me, but now when I paint I get to tell my stories to others.”
