Judith Butters
Yarliyil Art CentreJudy was born in 1954 at Moola Bulla Station near Halls Creek. She is Kija through her father, whose country Jarlalu runs from the Bungle Bungle’s west along the Ord River, and Gooniyandi through her mother, who is from Go Go station in the Fitzroy Valley. She grew up on stations near and to the north of Halls Creek and her early works are of landscapes filled with the flowers and food plants and animals of her childhood. She also paints about her father’s country around Purnululu (the Bungle Bungles) and Warmun/Turkey Creek.
